Vista set to launch this summer

Work on a multi-million pound project to improve some of our high-rise blocks in Bedford will begin later this year.

Vista is our ambitious regeneration programme, and the first phase of it will involve the refurbishment of Ashburnham Court in Ashburnham Road, with Bury Court in Church Lane to follow in Summer 2022. Following an extensive tendering exercise, United Living (South) have been awarded the contract to carry out the work.

We spoke to Mo Crouch, Partnering and New Business Director at United Living, to find out more about them and how they’ll work with residents during the refurbishment.

“We’ve been regenerating people’s homes and communities for more than 60 years,” said Mo. “Our expertise lies in the refurbishment and conversion of buildings. We work with local suppliers and sub-contractors and provide training and employment to local people.”

Working with residents

Mo was also keen to explain that United Living’s focus is on involving local residents as much as possible, putting them at the heart of everything they do. “Residents at Ashburnham Court will soon be introduced to the United Living team who’ll be on site throughout the project. We’ll meet each resident independently to find out if they have any particular concerns and everyone will receive a resident information pack about the project.

“For the duration of the refurbishment we’ll continue to engage with residents, while following government guidelines and measures to keep everyone safe.”

Track record in the community

United Living has had many years’ experience of working with housing associations to refurbish similar buildings.

Recently, the company undertook major improvement and energy efficiency work at five 1960s tower blocks, similar to our high-rise buildings. The scheme, which was delivered on behalf of a housing association, provided innovative green technologies, ventilation systems, high insulation cladding and improved security.

Work on Ashburnham Court starts in the summer.
