“We liked Mill View straight away”
Edward Hughes (80) and his wife, Anne (79), moved into Mill View Court in January 2020. Edward, a retired nuclear accelerator designer, describes what a difference it’s made to their quality of life.
“It was my daughter, Meryl, who spotted this new development. At the time we were living in an old cottage in Ickleton, Essex, which no longer suited our needs. I’d been ill a number of times with pneumonia, and my wife had a fall at home. At one point we were both in hospital at the same time. We knew that we had to move closer to our two daughters in Cambridgeshire, and into a place where we could get support.
“We liked Mill View straight away and chose a one-bedroom apartment to rent on the ground floor. Our patio opens up to the car park, which is ideal for getting into the car easily, and taking deliveries. The facilities are good too. We can’t use the restaurant at the moment, but we can order meals from a menu and have it delivered to the door.
“What makes this place perfect for us is the care we get during the day. I have to go into hospital a lot and my wife needs looking after. Our daughters have greater peace of mind now, knowing there are wonderful people here to look after us.
“It’s great to be nearer to family as well. We have five grandchildren, which we hope to be able to spend more time with once the current situation improves.
“We’re both really happy here. It’s probably the best move we’ve ever made.”
