How an out of tune piano led to concerts for all

When bpha Community Engagement Officer Julie Piercey and Independent Living Area Manager Mark Weston held a ‘drop-in’ at Warburton House earlier this year, a resident mentioned how much they’d like to hear someone play the piano. The instrument was kindly donated by a customer but needed a little work, as well as someone who could play.

Julie and Mark arranged for the piano to be tuned and contacted Ruby, who runs music therapy sessions at the CB1 Community Room in Cambridge.

Ruby arranged a concert, featuring her students playing and singing, as well as her wonderful piano playing. It was a fantastic event and the residents enjoyed it so much that Sunny, who has taken over from Ruby, and the team are coming back for a special sing-along Christmas concert and you’re very welcome to join us.
