My Home is the National Housing Federation’s contents insurance scheme. It’s a specialist insurance scheme provided by Thistle Tenant Risks. All those living in social and affordable housing are eligible to apply. It provides cover for items including furniture, carpets, curtains, clothes, bedding, electrical items, jewellery, pictures and ornaments. This includes accidental damage to TVs and home computers. You’re covered for incidents including fire, theft, water damage, and storms and floods.
The scheme lets you pay either fortnightly or monthly by cash at a post office or Payzone outlet, monthly by direct debit or annually by cheque, postal order, debit or credit card.
And if you need it, there’s also an option to take out extended cover, which would cover portable items, such as mobile phones.
