If you’re thinking of making any changes to your home including electrical changes, please make sure you get permission from us first.
Electrical alterations could include:
- Installing spotlights to ceilings. There is risk with non-fire safety lights being used and cutting into ceilings that may contain asbestos
- Installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points
- Extending the electrical installation to provide power to a shed, garage, or other outbuilding
- Installing additional socket(s)
- New or replacement electrical showers
- Installing outside lights and sockets.
Asking you to request permission for alterations to your home isn’t for us to check what you are doing, it’s to make sure any work being carried out meets current safety regulations - helping to keep you, your household and your property safe. Alterations without permission in flats is especially risky as it can impact on the fire safety effectiveness of the whole block.
If permission isn’t obtained and any work carried out is not up to safety standards, we will reinstate the alteration and recharge you for our costs.
To get guidance on what changes need permission and to obtain written permission please get in touch with the Electrical team.
