The VIP Group in Trumpington is a monthly hub for adults to catch up with friends or meet new people, and take part in activities including music therapy, brain teasers and light exercise such as badminton. Visitors can also access support from local community services and from bpha teams, such as our money advice service.

By creating safe, inclusive places to meet, we can help reduce loneliness and support stronger communities.

Isobel Morley is an Activities Coordinator, part of our Community Engagement Team. Her role is developing and running activities that help to support the prevention of social isolation amongst older members of the community.

“For many of our members it is the highlight of their month, coming to see familiar faces and catch up over tea and a light lunch.

“This year we look forward to more group activities including music therapy, crafts, talks from local experts, curling and badminton. We are always listening to the needs of the members and responding to facilitate a group where they feel included and accepted.”

Barry Thompson, bpha customer and VIP Group attendee, says

“We are certainly well looked after, and we get interesting talks and games. It’s great to get a bit of exercise, especially with music therapy where we get movement in without even realising it.

“The VIP Group brings us all together. Most of the people who attend live alone, so it helps us get out and have other people to talk to.”

The VIP Group is held at Trumpington Pavillion, Paget Road, Trumpington, CB2 9JT. You can join us there on the second Wednesday of every month, between 10:30am to 1:00pm.

You can find our Community Hubs and Drop Ins across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
