Everyone looks out for each other
It’s made up of 39 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments, all rental.
Scheme Manager Theresa Williams: “Gordon Colling House in not just an Independent Living Scheme – it’s a community. We’re like a big family and all new residents are warmly welcomed into it. Everyone looks out for each other. We have families of former residents who still visit from time to time and send cards at Christmas because they still feel close to us and made friends during previous visits.
“I love working here - all of the customers have different stories and it’s lovely to listen to them talking about their lives. Having the customers come and say thank you for all of your support is lovely, it a great feeling knowing that you have helped them.
And the relationship we have with the care support team enables me to feel confident that our customers are very well cared for and supported in every way possible.”
Activities at Gordon Colling House include a twice weekly coffee morning, gardening club, bingo, which some of our families help organise – plus there’s an activities room open every day for residents to use for games and crafting. Throughout the year, staff and residents mark celebration days and festivals – particularly during December when there are different events every day.
