Universal Credit Helper online tool

You can find the Universal Credit Helper on our website. The first section helps you check if you’re eligible for Universal Credit, by taking you to our ‘better off’ calculator.

If you are, the Helper tool then takes you through the application process. It lets you know how long each section will take to complete and what information you need to have handy when applying.

You can save your progress as you go, so you don’t need to worry about completing it all at once.

If you receive benefits but haven’t yet been automatically moved over to Universal Credit, we recommend getting in touch with our Money Advice Team before applying. It’s possible you may be better off staying on the current system for as long as you can – we’ll be able to help you work that out.
